Clare Hodgins | Curriculum Vitae

PASSPORT.jpg

Hunter Valley Artist Clare Hodgins recently moved to Pokolbin from Newcastle and has a background in graphic design, which complements her photographic practice. She holds a Graphic Design Diploma from Hunter Institute TAFE, studied Visual Communication at Newcastle University, and earned a Photography degree from Raffles College of Design and Commerce in Sydney.

Clare works as the Graphic Designer and Photographer at Maitland Regional Art Gallery since 2010. She has regularly participated in group shows around Newcastle, including the annual Look See exhibition by Zookraft, numerous Roost Creative shows, the Make it Made it conference, Collect at the Lock Up, Back to Back Gallery, Gallery 139, and Maitland Regional Art Gallery.

In 2018, she also had a solo exhibition at Gallery 139. Since completing her photography degree, Clare has produced three compelling photographic series inspired by decay, ocean and space —Project D, What Remains, and Cosmos—each designed to elicit a powerful emotional response from the viewer in an imagined world. Her portfolio also includes playful, quirky imagery and vibrant colour palettes, reflecting her imaginative spirit and sense of humour.
